These things happen when a company mass produces products. It's anavoidable and is usually the exception and not the rule.
I bet you don't do everything perfectly right all the time. In fact judging by the all pretentious, righteous attitude you manifest in your daily articles and your all to self -important and often wrong calling of the market - your self measure and QC are just as unacceptable and bad. You missed a phone call while trying to mute vivaldi? Ha, We really feel sympathy (not) for your Martha's vineyard vacation being "Totally messed up by these "Unacceptable" problems"
Geeze, that's so jejune.
(Hey, I'm just messin' with ya' ;^) )
Damn, couldn't leave without taking toys?
Pitiful, pitiful...
I've enjoyed reading your comments even though I'm not an active investor. It's good to see some 'analysis' of Apple by someone who seems to have more than a passing acquaintance with just its name! :-) Sorry about your troubles. I'm hoping I don't have a similar experience with the two I bought for our Anniversary!
Please try to enjoy the rest of your "vacation!"
My current problems have included (in no particular order):
Typing lag in SMS
Contact lag (choosing contact and dialing)
Safari crashes
App crashes
GPS inoperability
Dropped 3G calls
General crashes needing a reset
Extremely long back-up time when syncing to MacBook Pro
These are the most frequent in my experience. I have done resets, restarts, clean restarts, etc., etc. Same problems occur. I have read in many other forums and articles of similar problems and more.
For me, what I notice most is that I no longer have the confidence in the device that I once had. I now feel that at any moment something may not function properly, or I will need to perform a restart. Never felt that way before with the 'old' phone.
I bought my wife an iPhone 3G at the same time as mine, and she had never had one before. She has encountered many of the same problems though not all - and has been very frustrated with her phone, especially since this is her first experience as a user.
I actually now feel reluctant to recommend the phone to others as I fear they will encounter the same frustrations.
As an investor and a customer, I sincerely hope Apple comes out with new firmware with a quickness to address these issues, or I fear their exceedingly high customer satisfactions will take a hit, as well as our brokerage accounts.
the on off button is super easy on mine and all othere I have checked on in the stores friday (well two stores here in the bay area) and have had no issues with the headset plug (a tight snug fit that just works ) so sorry you've had this unfortunate luck - fingers are crossed for your next one! a note - while in the store this time - give the phone a full test on all functions to avoide any more store visits.... Cheers Gavin
As a long time user, like me, you should remember the buggy System 7 OS. OS X 1.0 wasn't that much better. They make 2.0.1 seem solid. Like a woman in childbirth, you forget the birthing pains of the past. If they didn't forget, they'd never have another.
What get's me is this isn't an early adopter situation, this is a fairly mature product. I understand the ap store is new but Safari having issues? C'Mon!
When it works, the 3G (or the 2.5g as well I presume) is amazing and game changing but it needs to work.
FWIW - my connection speeds are fine so I don't see any issues with my 3G chipset.
That said it is STILL the best phone I've ever had/used.
