The Vix hasn't experienced a real crash or panic - so saying things like "it's never been this high" isn't really saying anything. If the market is crashing it's a different story and you can forget Vix 50 - because it's nothing. Try Vix 150-200 on real panic.

I enjoy your comments - just saying if you compare apples to apples - you get much higher readings....

Re: Will Apple Get Lift From IBM Profit?

I'm calling a bottom at 7850 for the Dow. the problem is, I don't see why it will go back up from there very quickly if at all for a long time. Ok, there may be some brief pop up but it will only be temporary. There is NO liquidity out there. NO money and the Fed has pumped in more money this past week in more strange and revolutionary ways then ever imagined before. Apple will tank to somewhere in the 70's for a short while. Its a buy anywhere around here for the patient investor. But for now, we are all in the wilderness, big time.

Re: Will Apple Get Lift From IBM Profit?

Sorry, but you're mistaken. The VIX was introduced back in 1993. You're thinking of the VXO. And it wasn't 200, I believe it was 187.

Re: Will Apple Get Lift From IBM Profit?

For the second time - the VIX hit 200 during the 1987 crash. Today is not an all time high.
